- Time
- About [N] minutes
Argon is our customer data and messaging suite. Events is its event tracking. It takes 4 kinds of call: track, identify, page and group.
This guide uses 2 of them from a website. Identify says who someone is, and track records what they did.
Create a workspace
Sign in at zymlabs.cloud and open Argon. Create a workspace, then copy its API key from [WHERE THE KEY IS SHOWN].
Keep in mind: [WHERE THE KEY CAN BE USED, AND WHAT TO DO IF IT LEAKS.]
Add the SDK to your site
Install the SDK from npm, or load it with a script tag if your site has no build step. Then start it with your API key.
// npm install @zymlabs/argon-analytics-browser-sdkimport { ArgonAnalyticsBrowser } from '@zymlabs/argon-analytics-browser-sdk'
const analytics = new ArgonAnalyticsBrowser({ apiKey: 'your-argon-api-key',})Identify a person
Call identify when someone signs up or signs in. Pass the user ID from your own database, and every later call joins the same profile. Traits are what you know about the person, such as their plan.
analytics.identify('user-123', { plan: 'trial',})Track what they do
Call track each time someone does something you might act on later, such as signing up. Name each event for what happened. Keep the name the same everywhere you send it.
analytics.track('signed_up', { source: 'pricing_page',})Check that events arrive
Open Events in your workspace. Each call shows up as it arrives.
If nothing shows up after [N] minutes, check the API key and the user ID. Then [WHERE TO FIND REJECTED CALLS].
